Community Based Supportive Housing

  

What It Is

 
Self-Help’s Community-Based Supportive Housing lending supports the purchase of residences to be used for group housing of persons people with disabilities. The group houses generally serve one to six disabled individuals.

Eligible Projects


Borrowers may be individuals, non-profits, for-profits, limited partnerships, or government agencies that meet the following requirements:

  • The facility must be a licensed group home for children or adults with disabilities or must be using loan proceeds to acquire a license.
  • The borrower must have at least three years of experience in managing real estate.
  • The borrower must have a contract with the state or county  agency to receive funds to provide housing and support services to disabled individuals.


Properties that meet the following criteria may be eligible:


  • One to four family residences that provide primary and permanent housing for disabled persons.
  • Group homes that provide a home-like environment to a small number of residents. characterized by a home-like environment with a small number of residents, typically.
  • Residences that conform to all current zoning, dispersion, occupancy, and use requirements.


Benefits and Requirements

 
Self-Help offers competitive interest rates and loan terms up to 30 years.  There is no minimum or maximum loan size. 

While location is not restricted, the property may not include commercial or nonresidential facilities.
