Child Care
Child Care
The Issue
Quality child care is an essential component of community economic development. Not only are educated citizens imperative for the health of a community, but the child care industry is also a key part of a state’s economic engine. The North Carolina child care industry generates $1.5 billion in revenue and creates 46,000 jobs annually. Surveys conducted by Self-Help indicate that the child care industry is vastly underserved through traditional financing mechanisms.
Who We Serve
Consideration is also given to home and center based child care and Head Start programs in North Carolina with loans ranging from $1,000 to several million dollars.
Self-Help will also consider lending to child care providers and Head Start programs outside of North Carolina, which are located in certain low-income areas and require loans of $500,000 or more.
