Self-Help provides affordable housing by working with partners to create modern, modestly-priced homes in North Carolina neighborhoods.

Since 1996, we have built more than 85 homes for low and moderate-income families in Durham, Wake, and Mecklenburg counties. We have invested $ 9.9 million in developing homes sold to low-wealth, first-time homebuyers. We plan to expand our work to Goldsboro and Greensboro in 2007 and continue to look for other opportunities to work with local communities. Our attention to architectural detail and energy efficiency combined with a focus on revitalizing existing downtown neighborhoods makes Self-Help unique in its approach to affordable housing development.
